The add-on I/O modules (4-port or 8-port 10 Gbps or 20-port 1 Gbps all with slot divider) all go in Slot 1 (upper slot).
When you have a FirePOWER SSP module, it uses all of Slot 1. Thus you only get the two additonal 10 Gbps and eight 1 Gbps interfaces that come with the FirePOWER SSP.
If you are looking at new firewalls, the FirePOWER 4100 series is generally a much better choice. The cost will be a good bit less than the ASA 5585-X and you can get many more 10 Gbps ports.
