ASA 55XX Failover link down

Hi,

Setting up a pair of 5525X ASA firewall for failover. Connecting the ASA Failover link back to back with an ethernet cable works fine. When i connect failover ports with a switch in between with a dedicated vlan configured, Layer 1 will not even come up, the switchport is in down down state. Port is configured as an access port.

Any ideas?

It should work as that's a perfectly supported setup.

Can you share the "show run interface <relevant port>" and "show interface <relevant port>" output from the ASAs and the switch?

Thanks for responding Marvin, the configuration was good. turned out to be a combination of bad switchport and cable.
