hi,
i'm in the process of upgrading our asa 5525-X with FP module and saw the link below.
https://supportforums.cisco.com/blog/12294976/asa-5500-x-sourcefire-firepower-configuration
sorry for being a noob, but i would like some clarification and need to know the difference between the .img and .pkg file.
is the step for .pkg necessary?
is the .pkg file that big that it can't fit on the flash and do instead a 'system install disk0:/<file-name>.pkg'?

The .img file is the boot image. This is loaded on the ASA so as to have basic network connectivity on the SFR module to pick up the system image (.pkg file) and install the Firepower software. You are not expected to load the pkg file onto the flash. You should pick up the pkg file directly from the FTP or HTTP location during install. You need both these files in order to re-image the Firepower modules.
A few good example documents of the whole process:

Hope this helps.

hi,
thanks for the links!
another thing, is the 'setup' wizard a one time wizard?
Cisco FirePOWER Services Boot 6.0.0 (1005)
Type ? for list of commands
asasfr-boot>setup
i tried to console and issue the 'setup' command on FP module in production but doesn't let me change the settings.
is there another way? or is it possible to re-edit in ADM? i just to use CLI as much as possible.
