Hi all,
I'm trying to upload an 11 meg file (AnyConnect) to my internal ASA flash, and I'm seeing the following error:
%Error copying disk0:/anyconnect-macosx-i386-3.1.05152-k9.pkg (No space left on device)
When I dir flash:, I see this:
255426560 bytes total (185180160 bytes free)
... Thoughts? I thought maybe it was something like the old 'squeeze' function needed to happen, but that doesn't exist.

Hey Rick,
Looks pretty normal to me. Not sure if this is a good candidate for a manual fsck or reboot.
It's 8.2(5) as you can see from the file in flash, for what it's worth.

You could try running the command fsck flash:
This command will check the flash for any corrupt sectors and attempt to repair them. The command is normally run automatically when you restart the ASA also. try running it and see if you are able to upload your file after.

Hello Marius,
did you resolve this? i have the same problem, it says there's 98 mb free, i try to copy a 16 mb file and it says no space left..

When I had an issue with writing to disk on an ASA TAC gave me these suggestions:
1) try fsck disk0 which will look for errors and attempt to repair them.
2) if that does not fix the issue then try reboot. This will dismount and then remount the disk and may fix issues.
3) if that does not fix the issue try to format the disk.
The symptoms that I was dealing with were slightly different that what is described here but I believe that the advice applies here. In my case Cisco determined that it was a hardware issue on the ASA and did an RMA. So if your ASA is covered by an active maintenance plan it would be worth it to open a case with Cisco (I would do it if the reboot does not resolve the issue and see what they say before I tried to format the disk).

Flash access errors on ASA´s are fairly common. I saw a couple each year.
For me, fsck disck0 usually works.
Never needed an RMA nor format.
(I always hold breath breath while fsck is working, for step 2, just pray)

I had the same issue with an ASA that had 222MB of free space (I was copying up a new AnyConnect client package that was 38MB). fsck didn't work for me, but the reboot did.

I am glad that my suggestions were useful. Thank you for posting to the forum to let us know that fsck did not fix the issue but that reboot did fix it. That would be helpful information for other readers in the forum to know.
