asa5510 asdm issue

Hello everyone,

I am getting the following error when i try to use ASDM.

"Your ASA image has a version number 8.2(2) which is not supported by ASDM 6.1(3)."

I looked at the following link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/compatibility/asamatrx.html and it says 8.2(2) require 6.2(5) and later.  When i go to my firewall https://ipaddress then it's only give me the option to dowload 6.1(3).

How can i download 6.2(5) or the later version so i can log into my firewall? please help.  thanks in advance.

Hello Gurpreet,

You need to go to cisco.com/downloads and get an image 6.2(5) or later ( Later being the best) and donwload to your computer.

Then copy that image to the ASA flash  using TFTP and finally change the ASDM image used for the HTTPS service on the ASA: clear configure asdm

         asdm image flash:new_image_uploaded.bin

fount it, thanks. Now i have to have valid contract with cisco to download the file.

Question: flashing ASDM image doesn not change any of the config right? So ASA image carry all the configs and ASDM image is just for GUI part?

Exactly.. Just the GUI image ( No config changes)

Just remember to add

asdm image flash:new_image_uploaded.bin
