ASA5510 passive FTP fails

We've an ASA5510 (Version 8.2(1)).

Whenever I attempt to download files from an external FTP site using passive FTP, the connection always times-out. Switching to active FTP seems to work OK.

Using ASDM, I've examined the Service Policy Rules > Rule Actions and "FTP" is selected. Looking a bit further in "Configure" shows that "Use strict FTP..." is not selected.

I'm a relative newbie when it comes to Cisco administration, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
