ASA5512 IPS SW Module

I bought ASA5512x IPS license, do i need activation key for it to activate on the firewall? does the firesight is must or optional?

Hi Ahmed-

If you purchased IPS subscription for the FirePOWER (Sourcefire) services for the ASA then the Firesight Management Console is a must. The FireSight console is where you would:

- Install licenses

- Configure Sourcefire sensors

- Collect logs

- Run reports

- Etc

Without the FireSIGHT management console the Sourcefire Sensors will not be usable.
