Cisco Firepower FMCv MCv-300 Shortage

Hello everyone,

I'm having a situation at a client which previously (1 month ago) had a FMCv 6.2 version whis was working fine untill one night. For some reasons the database of the vm has crashed and we had to rebuild the vm (no problem here - life's interesting sometimes). We have made a clean install of FMCv to 7.0.6 VDB 405. We have registered the device to Cisco Smart Account, and since then, we have an "Out of compliance" on FMCv to Firepower Management Center Virtual license (-1) (see attached ss).

So far everything is working fine, but this error has an impact on my ADHD and I haven't found out from where this "Firepower MCv-300 Device License" has appeared, because previously the compliance part was corelated to this license "Firepower MCv Device License". When did this MCv-300 device license has appeared?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

  1. The virtual FMC can be licensed to manage 2, 10, 25 or 300 sensors/firewalls. See ordering guide here. My guess is that you had purchased a 25 device license but deployed the FMCv300 image resulting in the out-of-compliance message in the smart licensing portal. You can validate this by checking the "Product Instances" tab in the smart licensing portal where it will show you the instance that is consuming this license. If this is the case, you have two options:
Re-deploy the vFMC using the correct image
  2. Keep the existing one and procure an upgrade license "SF-FMC-VMW-25-300"
