If I purchase a 5 pack context license for my FPR1120 (FPR1K-ASASC-5), is it then possible to assign only 3 to the appliance and save the 2 for later? since it only supports a maximum of 5, and has 2 built-in.
The 5-pack (or any other -pack for the other higher capacity platforms) context license is only usable on a single appliance. You cannot distribute is across 2 (or more) appliances.
If you are running an HA pair - I understand you will need 2 FPR1K-ASASC-5 licenses Do you also need a different Smart Net license to cover that license? I have had issues with Cisco Licensing in the past and want to make sure the license is transferable when an RMA is involved.
There's no Smartnet required for the context licenses.
