Hi Farooq Razzaque,

'Hardware: ASA5520' & 'Hardware: ASA5520-K8', displays the Base Product ID of the hardware. The only difference here is that till April 2006, ASA 5510/20/40 were being shipped without 'K8' in their Base Product ID.

Hi Dinesh,

Thanks for your prompt response.

1) You mean to say the ASA 5510/20/40 that were shipped till April 2006 were shipped without "K8" and  the ASA 5510/20/40 that were shipped after April 2006 were shipped with "K8".

2 ) Are  both ASAs (ASA5520 & ASA5520-K8) same functionality wise ?

3) I have one ASA with part number "ASA5520" in production and i want to put other ASA with part number "ASA5520-K8" in failover . Will the difference in part number (with and without K8) in both ASA can cause issue in failover.

Farooq,

1. That is correct.
2. They are similar, just the Base Product ID is different.
3. It won't create any issues but before putting them in failover, make sure the licenses match on both the devices. Though it is always suggested that you test your setup in the  lab before putting it in production.
