Does FirePOWER on 5512X need SSD drive?

SSD drive is not listed as a prerequisite for configuring a FirePOWER Service Module on an ASA. We have some existing 5512-X and would like to enable FirePOWER. So beside the FirePOWER license, do we need to buy the SSD for 5512-X as well?

Thanks in advance.

Never mind, I found the answer. We do need the SSD drives for installing FirePOWER on our 5512-X, part number  ASA5500X-SSD120=

Sorry - I missed your initial post.

All new ASAs should be sold in the "FPWR" bundle SKUs - those include the SSD and FirePOWER image pre-installed even if you're not using it initially. You can still order a 5500-X series without the SSD but you have to specify it.

Prior to FirePOWER modules, the SSDs weren't a default choice but only added if the customer was requesting the CX module.

5506, 5508 and 5516 models will have always have FirePOWER services - they don't let you choose whether or not to have an SSD (they always have SSDs and on the 5506 models they are internal).
