Hellow happy people,

Did any one enabled automatic backup of ASA configuration using EEM. I am going to try it out. What will be the challenge which i can forsee before i go ahead? Something like high cpu/mem utilization etc..

event manager applet period-event

description "Run backup command once in a day"

event timer watchdog time 86400 //(60x60x24)

action 0 set x <xyzzfdsfafdsfaddsfsaf>

action 1 cli command "copy startup-config scp://test:test12@<serverip>/<some path and file name $x>"

output none

You should not encounter any issues by copying your startup configuration to another server using scp. As for backup strategy I would rather suggest using tools like oxidized which is an opensource tool that can backup a wide range of devices and stores all backups in GIT for change history.

Ohh thatz great thank you..We had planned that option too..but to pull the config from ASA by using tool requires the credentials to be cached or saved in the tool, which can not be accepted by our security policy.. So the EEM solution..
