Does anyone have a homebrew, or public facing doc on how to perform a recovery of a 4100 series appliance ?
I have a doc that traces the steps to perform this manual RomMon based update of a 9300, and based on the similarities in the architecture, It's reasonable to assume the process is similar.
https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/12556401/how-boot-new-image-firepower-9300
boot to ROM
set tftp / nw-address / gw / mask / filename
boot tftp://<filename>
or
boot usb0://<filename>
Problem is, neither Partner Help nor TAC have a reference for the kickstart SPA, and only reference the System Image on both CCO and in the PH note. Does anyone know where / how to source the Kickstart image (which contains the NXOS loader for the "pseudo FI / supervisor"
Problem Statement::
When tftp;ing the system image such as FXOS-K9.2.1.1.64.SPA , it gets to 417MB of the file and bombs out with "out of memory" error.
Curious if anyone has successfully recovered one of these boxes from CLI / complete image corruption to the bootflash://.
Trying to write a detailed MOP on how to do this, for a client (for change control MOP) but there's ZERO doco on this it seems.
Q: Should the 9300 software recovery process be easily adapted / similar to the 4100 ?
Q: If the above is :yes: then where can we source the Kickstart image, other than from a running / functioning node ?
Q: Is it possible to extract a kickstart image from a system image SPA ?
Thanks,
