Hello. I would like to ask a question about Cisco firewalls: Are there any books or curricula that cover topic: firewall principles ? My next project includes testing of mentioned device so I am looking for some source of information that helps better understanding of mentioned device . Thanks !
Steve

Hi,
Sadly I havent personally yet read any firewall book but will be reading one eventually for CCNP Security certification.
Currently the book for the "Firewall" Exam of CCNP Security is (to my understading unless they have updated it with another version)
CCNP Security FIREWALL 642-617 Official Cert Guide
http://www.ciscopress.com/store/ccnp-security-firewall-642-617-official-cert-guide-9780132748353
I am not sure if this is some old version since it seems that for example CCNA certifications are getting new material at the moment.
Though the above book is something that prepares for the certification exam but I would imagine it goes through alot of basic information regarding the ASA firewall.

Ah,
I was expecting that it might have changed.
So I guess the new material already handles 8.3+ NAT format also.

Hi,
Glad if it helped out.
There is also some helpfull information in the ASA configuration guides which are naturally free.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6120/products_installation_and_configuration_guides_list.html
Though naturally they arent meant as study material on firewall theory but they do provide valuable information in some cases.
If you have found any of the information helpfull please rate the answers
