We have 2 FMCv to manage different firewalls and we initially cloned the first FMC VM to create the new one, but that is not acceptable by the CSSM as I read on other threads.
We then created a new FMCv from a downloaded image with the same version of our current operational FMC 7.2.7. In this case, the Smart Licenses registration with the CSSM On-Prem was successful. Then we restored the latest backup of the old FMC to the newly created FMC, which broke the Smart Licensing registration and we are unable to rejoin it to the CSSM On-Prem now.
Checking on the CSSM cli, we got the following message
[CDATA[{"signature":{},"response":"{\"header\":{\"request_type\":\"REGISTRATION\",\"sudi\":{\"udi_pid\":\"FS-VMW-SW-K9\",\"udi_serial_number\":\"3\",\"uuid\":\"9682d3e8-b718-11ea-a434-def782bbe121\"},\"version\":\"1.3\",\"locale\":\"en_US.UTF-8\",\"connect_info\":{\"name\":\"C_agent\",\"version\":\"5.3.17_rel/76\",\"production\":true,\"additional_info\":\"\",\"capabilities\":[\"UTILITY\",\"DLC\",\"AppHA\",\"MULTITIER\",\"EXPORT_2\",\"OK_TRY_AGAIN\"]},\"timestamp\":0},\"status_code\":\"FAILED\",\"status_message\":\"The product 'regid.2015-06.com.cisco.FPR-TD,v1_f782c685-80e4-45ac-8d5b-a080457146c2' and sudi { udi_pid: FS-VMW-SW-K9, udi_serial_number: 3, suvi: nil, uuid: 9682d3e8-b718-11ea-a434-def782bbe121, udi_vid: nil, mac_address: nil, host_identifier: nil } have already been registered\"}
I can see that UUID for both new and old FMC are the same, I am not sure if it was the same before the backup restore, but is there anyway to change the UUID or regenerate a new UUID for the new FMC?
