Please can you give me the basic configuration steps on what to do on ASDM. A sample config would help me a lot ...

Hi,

The configurations depends a bit on the current setup

For example we would need to first know if the DSL Router is configured as a Router or a Bridge? I mean will the ADSL Router be using the public IP address from the ISP or will the ADSL Router be acting as a Bridged device and the public IP address from the ISP is configured at the ASA directly?

Also in the case where the ASDL Router would be Bridged there is a question of have you been assigned a static public IP address or will the ISP hand out that IP address with DHCP?

If you havent specifically asked for some certain setup related to the above information I would have to say that the setup is probably something like this

  • ASDL Router is acting as a Router and uses DHCP to get the public IP address from the ISP
  • ASDL Router in turn acts as a DHCP Server for the ASA

Can you clarify the above points.

Also a very important information would be the Software Level of the ASA at the moment?
