I feel like an idiot for this one. What the hell - I'm new. We just purchased a PIX 515 and I do not have the slightest idea how to connect to it. I can't get to the command line via the console cable. I have it connected to the rs232 but don't know how to get in.
I also would like to know how to access the GUI interface as well. I HAVE SEARCHED HI AND LO AND CANNOT FIND A SINGLE DOC ON THIS! Do you know of a link that has this beginner type stuff?
Thanks,
J

The console port on a 515 is an RJ45 port, you should be able to just use the supplied DB9 or DB25 plug and a straight thru RJ45 cable to connect it up. I believe the settings are N81 for the console port on your PC.
After that, read up on:

As for accessing the GUI, you may or may not need to actually load the software on, doing a "show ver" will tell you (if the 2nd line shows a PIX Device Manager version then it's already installed).
After running the setup program on the PIX, you should be able to simply browse to the inside IP address using https://
