Cisco has announced that FirePower Management Center for Virtual Classic license (PAK License) SKUs are end-of-life and will be replaced by Smart license SKUs. Last possible end date when ordering or renewing SWSS for the affected SKUs is April 30, 2025.
Our client currently has an active SWSS contract for their FMCv Classic license, but they would like to renew the contract for an additional three years. However, this will extend beyond the last possible end date for SWSS for FMCv Classic licenses.
According to our distributor, the only way to keep the licenses covered by support is to purchase new licenses under the Smart license SKU. Are loyal Cisco clients with active SWSS coverage truly at risk of ending up with worthless licenses for their current software product due to the change in licensing model?
Is there a way for our client to convert their classic license (covered by SWSS) to a smart license that is eligible for SWSS coverage?
