Updated IPS 4235 from 5.1 to 6.0 - can;t access IDM anymore.

Fails with errors like 'Can't connect to server - null' or 'errNotSupported-Command not valid or not supported'.

java.lang.Exception: errNotSupported-Command not valid or not supported

Has anyone seen anything like that?

Advice: try it on test sensors first.

If the PC you are connecting from is

compliant, then you should not have a

problem connecting to IDM.

What operating system, browser,

and version are you trying to connect

from? What version of Java runtime

are you using?

Using Windows XP, IE 7.0.

I've tried JRE 5.0-Update10 and JRE 6.0.

Tried to delete cache in browser and JRE temp files. Tried to reload CIDS on sensor.

Tried Mozilla on the same system, same errors.

hi try to set the jre- paramter to 256m cause by default it uses 64m and idm requires 256m.

regards

sebastan

Thanks, I have that parameter for sure and everything works find for big number of sensors with IPS 5.x.

I guess I'll open a case with Cisco.

This is interesting because I use IDM almost exclusively when I want to configure something and the IDM has always worked. I'd suspect the java 1.5.10 based on past experience. I currently use Vista with IE7 and JRE 1.6 beta with no problems other than IE7's hangup about self-signed certificates. I have used XP and IE7, but I think I was using JRE 1.5b6. I will boot my XP partition and report back.

As they say..Rats! I don't have that configuration anymore.
