Hello -
How will the 4200 series running
IPS 5.1-X handle the March 2007 Time Change?
Daylight Savings time is starting early this year and I need to know if the current time settings will auto-adjust come March.
Thank you

5.1(4) has the changes to accomodate the DST changes.
So 5.1(4) or better and you're all set.

Thank you Walter -
One more question: Will there be any updates to the 5.1(4) package? 5.1(5)? Or should I go ahead and install the 5.1(4) dated 10-Nov-06?

Do you know how to go about actually making the change? I am running 5.1.(4)

Hi I have tested this with the following config. (for EST/EDT in my example). I was running 5.1(4) in 4250 sensor.
summertime-option recurring
offset 60
summertime-zone-name EDT
exit
I set the clock to March 11th 2007 01:55 and when it hit 02:00 it automatically changed to 03:00.
Easiest way to do this is by running 'setup' macro.

No chgs to make if you have already accepted the summertime defaults. Using CLI I will show the difference in the host cfg defaults between 5.1.3 and 5.1.4:
5.1(3):
sensor# conf t
sensor(config)# ser host
sensor(config-hos)# show set | begin summer
summertime-option
-----------------------------------------------
recurring
-----------------------------------------------
offset: 60 minutes
summertime-zone-name: CDT
start-summertime

month: april
week-of-month: first
day-of-week: sunday
time-of-day: 02:00:00
-----------------------------------------------
end-summertime
-----------------------------------------------
month: october
week-of-month: last
day-of-week: sunday
time-of-day: 02:00:00

5.1(4):
sensor# conf t
sensor(config)# ser host
sensor(config-hos)# show settings | begin summer
summertime-option

recurring

offset: 60 minutes

5.1(4) will become the minimum required OS version as of February 15, 2007 - you won't be able to apply signature updates beyond that without 5.1.4 installed. I do not believe that 5.1.5 will be out before that.

Greetings all. Just wanted to confirm again based on this thread. We have numberous 42xx IDP sensors running 5.1(4) with the latest sig pack. They're all configured to run UTC/GMT. Here's a snippet from their configs,
time-zone-settings
offset 0
standard-time-zone-name UTC
There are no changes required in anticipation of the DST change, correct?
