Hello all,
Can I statically assign a mac address to an interface in the FWSM/Cat? I'm converting the config of a PIX535 to an instance in an FWSM and I was wondering if I could configure the FWSM to have the same IP and mac address as the PIX interfaces so I don't have to clear the arp table of every host or wait for timeouts.
I'm guessing the answer is no since the mac address is pulled from the pool in the Cat, but I thought I'd ask.
Thanks

Hello Matthew,
You are correct, as of today it is not possible to hardcode a MAC Address on the FWSM and the MAC Address is pulled from the EPROM.
This is possible on the ASA, using the mac-address command but not on FWSM.
