Options to upgrade the SFR module

Let us assume i have a firepower sfr model running with older version
5.3.X, now I want to upgrade that module to 6.2.x
Now the question is, can i shutdown sfr and uninstall the existing version and upgrade the latest version ?
Or I have to follow the upgrade path irrespective of uninstalling the old version?

Request who has really tested this in live senario to answer.

Thanks
KRSC

You can either:

- uninstall 5.3 and reimage the module to 6.2.x base version, then using FMC install patches (less painful).
- using FMC upgrade 5.3 to 5.4 then all the way to 6.x, i.e. by following official upgrade path.
In both cases compatibility betwen ASA/SFR/FMC versions mentioned in the upgrade guides should be considered.

Hi,
Easiest way is to uninstall 5.3.x and install 6.2.x, otherwise you need to follow the upgrade path and it may consume lot of time.

Hope This Helps

Thanks .. :)

Will try uploading the latest file directly after uninstalling the old image.

Thankyou again

@Abheesh Kumar and @Ilkin said it rightly.

I've done just that on multiple ASAs with Firepower service modules.
