outbound irc dcc transfers blocked by pix 501

Hello all,

I have a PIX501 being used with my cable modem connection. It is running 6.2 software.

Everything works well- except outbound (ie when I want to send) dcc files when using irc.

It appears from what i can find that the rsponses from the intended receiver get blocked by the firewall.

Is this the case? How do i get around it?

PIXen do not have an application level IRC proxy. You need to forward a port from the pix to your desktop, and open a hole for it in the access control list applied to the outside interface of the pix. I don't recall the DCC port number, so I cannot be more specific - I burn enough time here without resorting to chat ; - )
