PIX 501 memory leak

Sorry if anyone notices duplication - I posted this first in the wrong place.

I'm using a PIX 501 version 6.3(4). Its very lightly loaded ~1% CPU average, max 15%. After a few weeks it seems to stop working. A power-reset will fix this.

The best symptom I have been able to come up with is that about every couple of days the memory usage (according to PDM) jumps about 200 Kb and stays there until the next jump. I've only just found this, but it seems (starting from a base usage of about 11 Mb) to roughly match the time-scale of failure.

I use no VPNs, no translation and no encryptions. There are five addresses behind the firewall.

Any thoughts?

I just put a 501 in service with one vpn but still lightly loaded, I'll keep an eye on the memory.

Another thing you might check, are either of your interfaces slowly counting up errors until your switch disables the port?

Apologies for the delay - I've been away.

I've just graphed the inside and outside interface error counts over 5 days. It says there have been no errors of any kind.

Regards

So much for that idea. My RAM is still 11.5 Meg, doesn't seem to be increasing.
