We just purchased a PIX 515 firewall and this is my first experience with Cisco equipment. I installed an extra Ethernet card, and when I boot the firewall I get a status message of:
Maximum interfaces: 2
Additional 1 interface(s) is(are) disabled.
Did I miss something simple?

Your PIX515 is licenced for 'Resticted use'. Up to version 5.1(1) you were only allowed to have 2 interface in a restricted 515, but starting with version 5.1(2) you can install up to 3 interfaces in a restricted PIX 515. My guess is that you are running a version prior to 5.1(2).

The license for your PIX is restricted to two interfaces. You need to upgrade the license to use more information. Type show version and look at your license features for the nuber of interfaces you can use.
PS - The license upgrade is expensive
