I am running PIX 515, VER 5.3, I have the following mapped address:

static (inside,outside) 74.231.209.230 10.13.11.100 netmask 255.255.255.255 0 0

In this case I can access the Global IP 74.231.209.230 from out side, but I cannot access it from inside of the PIX, Y SO. How can I access this ip from the inside hosts.

Inside users have to use the inside (=real) ip address of the server.

Hi,

well this is a problem which every one faces is the pinging from the inside.

I have thought the only reason for this being the router on the outside when routing the packets outside thinks that the global IP which you are tryin to ping is witin the same interace,and hence does not ping r gives request timed out.

Also check,the link below.

hope this helps !

You cant access global ip address from inside network, you need to use alias command which works with DNS, provided you DNS server is outside the PIX FW.

Remember you will only be able to access the host with the DNS name only, not through global IP address
