PIX 64-bit Client for Vista?

Does anyone have any idea when the 64-bit IPSec client for Vista might be released? I heard that one is finally in development, but I have not heard about its anticipated release date.

Our notebooks are now preloaded with 64-bit Vista (which we require for running 64-bit VMs) so the 32-bit client is not an option (except in a VM, but that's quite a waste of memory, drive space, and processor). Even if we upgraded our PIX to an SSL VPN-capable firewall, many of our smaller customers cannot afford to upgrade. (Some have switched to using OpenVPN in addition to or instead of their PIX VPNs, but not all of them are willing to dedicate the time and resources to do this.) I've gotten VPNC to connect to many of our customer's VPNs, but it does not work in all cases, it's a pain to set up, and I have not been able to get a GUI interface to work with it yet.

Thanks,

Victor

Hi Victor,

There is alot of hype on this topic.

At the moment there isn't an 64-bit Windows IPSEC client: The Cisco VPN client supports Windows 2000, XP and Vista (x86/32-bit only); Linux (Intel); Mac OS X 10.4; and Solaris UltraSparc (32 and 64-bit).

The SSL client (Anyconnect) supports 64-bit Vista:

There are rumors Cisco will bring IPSEC support under Anyconnect client (only then it will deserve its name :) ). However, at this time there are no release dates announced.

Please rate if this helped.

Regards,

Daniel
