Restor Back up to latest version

Hi All,

We are using ASA 5505 version 8.2(1) with base license,Inside Host unlimited license and 3 Vlans. We have bought new ASA with Security Plus License as a backup.My question is can I restore Back up from old ASA with version 8.2(1) to new ASA with version later ? or I have to configure new ASA from the scratch manually?

Hi,

Just to let you know there are NAT configuration related changes from version 8.3 on. If the new ASA shipped with version 8.2.x abd below, you are good to go. If it shipped with 8.3 and above, you are still use backup config (via tftp ot anyother method except copy/paste) and ASA will auto covert the configuration when you reboot. But, it is recomended to get familiar with new NAT syntax before you upload to ASA with IOS version 8.3a dn later.
