Our secondary FMCv is off site in a separate data center for better redundancy. There is a need to migrate the secondary FMCv to a new data center.
The primary and secondary FMCv communicate with each other over a site-to-site VPN, so the IP addresses they use for HA sync will remain the same after the migration. The migration will likely consist of either replicating the current secondary FMCv to the new Data Center and then cutting over from the old to the new data center so the same IP addresses don't exist in two places at once.
I'm asking for suggestions on this process to make sure it goes as smooth and painless as possible.
1. Am I likely to run into sync issues with FTD's or even with the primary FMCv by trying to use a replication of the secondary FMCv, or will I have licensing issues by replicating the secondary FMCv to the new data center?
2. Would it be better to stand up a new FMCv and restore backups from the current secondary FMCv?
3. Would there be an advantage to standing up a new secondary FMCv and breaking the HA pair we currently have and pairing the new FMCv to the primary from scratch that would outweigh the desire to maintain the redundancy of FMCv during the data center migration?
4. Is there documentation of this process specific to or similar to this scenario?
