Secure Firewall Version Jump from 7.7 to 10.0 - What's happening?

Hey,

I've done some googling and searching through the community forums. But I cannot find anything explaining the version jump from 7.7 to 10.0 for Secure Firewall products.

Does anyone have any links or comments on why Cisco is making this jump? Just want to make sure I haven't missed anything important.

Thank you,

Hi,

You'll find all the reasons and explanations in this document, it' related to FTD/ASA code version unification, release schedule and support:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/security/firewalls/bulletin-c25-743178.html

Thanks,

Cristian.

@pittb Cisco are have simplified release structure with consistent support and certification across all releases. It's mentioned at the start of this Cisco video and in the Cisco Live presentation BRKSEC 2236. Eventually ASA numbering will align with FTD.

Perfect - That is pretty straight forwards. Thank you @Rob Ingram and @Cristian Matei for linking me to that.
