Stupid ASA question #100: Is Firepower *required* to run the non-IPS functions

I have zero interest in running Firepower, but cannot purchase an ASA without it.

Can I simply choose to leave FP unconfigured and non-functional?

Yes.  The Firepower bundle is just a standard ASA fitted with an SSD so you can install Firepower onto that SSD.  To be able to use Firepower you need to buy a licence and then install the Firepower software.

So if you do nothing special but by the ASA Firepower bundle - you will have a standard ASA.
