The latest available version for your ASA platform is 9.1(1).

To get there you will normally have to follow an upgrade path, it's as follows:

8.0(4)-->8.2(5)-->8.4(5)-->9.1(1)

When moving to a code beyond 8.3 is always to keep a couple of things in mind, mentioned in the link below:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-12690

thanks jocamare, how about config? need to be manual or after follow the step will cisco asa 5510 will automatic update?

Hello,

It will be automatic but I would encourage you to read the entire changes from one version and the other just in case you need to adjust your configuration after the migration,

The link Jorell provide you it's a great link and explain the changes ( at least the most significants regarding configuration)

As the link says before the upgrade:

Disable NAT-control

Disable the Names command

Make sure you have the right memory,

Etc

what i mean is preparation for IPS

Hello Mohammed,

Preparation for an upgrade on the IPS?

You do not need one, execpt for the fact that some features will be added there is no critical changes as with the ASA on 8.2 going to 8.3

If you already know how the IPS works on the version u have u should be good
