Please check and share the tail of status.log for the upgrade folder.

You should be able to find it in the virtual Defense Center file system under /var/log/sf/<update name> and it will look something like this:

admin@sfvdc:/var/log/sf/Sourcefire_3D_Defense_Center_S3_Upgrade-5.4.0$ tail status.log

OK, that's useful. It's not the most common place for an upgrade to break but does give us some information to work with.

It could be that your current VDB (Vulnerability database) is very out of date. The update packages have limits on how far back your current package can be when they try to update you. What is your current VDB version?

You might be able to work around it by first updating the VDB itself apart from the application. If you succeed at that then retry the application update.

For the best outcome in a case like this, it would be best to open a TAC case and have them work with you interactively while analyzing the live log during an upgrade attempt.

Hi,

The current VDB is 287, and I tried to upgrade to 290 but failed....

Best Regards,

Ok. 287 is relatively recent and that shouldn't have broken the upgrade.

I'd say the TAC is your best approach at this juncture.
