The Cisco IPS as a Product Line will not be End Of Saled in 2008.
Specific older Cisco IPS Models are periodically End Of Saled as the older models are replaced by newer Models or Alternatives. This generally happens when the older model was first released several years ago. And with newer technology, we are able to create newer faster models to add to the Product Line and replace the older models.
Most recently the NM-CIDS (IPS module for the Access Routers) was End Of Saled because it was recently replaced by the newer AIM-IPS (newer IPS module for the ISR Routers).
In addition the IDS-4215 was End Of Saled, and users requiring the lower performance and price point of the IDS-4215 were urged to consider the AIP-SSM-10 and ASA-5510 combination (the AIP-SSM-10 is the IPS module for the lower end ASA firewall). The AIP-SSM-10 with an ASA-5510 was a comparable price point but with a much richer feature set (includes ASA firewall features) than the standalone IDS-4215.
So newer models are coming out on the Product Line as older models are being End of Saled, but the Product Line itself is NOT being End Of Saled.
