What is module number ? i.e. the 0 in 0/1

0 in 0/x usually means the main module of a device, main board.  it is fixed port id,  if you ahve  bays and slots, then numbering starts with module id, slot id, port/interface id

Module number means slot number or card number .On some  router or switch you can add additional line cards  for example

in slot 0 , slot1 , slot2   you have added three line cards  all total .

now for example slot 1 have 24  gig  ethernet ports  in that line card  now it will be having naming convention like gigethernet0/1 - gigethernet1/24  similarly on slot number 2 u will have gigethernet1/1 - gigethernet1/24  and in  slot number 3 

 gigethernet2/1 - gigethernet2/24  .
