We have 3 identical switches configured by someone else and would like to claim some of the Gigabit ports(G1/G2/G3/G4) for use on servers. When we try to change the wiring and configuration, we run in to connectivity issues. Attached is a description of the current wiring, Smarthost, and Interface settings. Can anyone tell us why they would be configured this way and/or do you see a problem with a single cable, in series instead. Currently there is 1 primary VLAN. Also, there is an ASA5505 cabled to one of the G ports on each switch as indicated on the attached drawing.
