Core Issue

The fast memory shown in the show memory [summary] command output appears low on free memory, as shown in the following example:

Resolution

No action is required in this situation because it is designed to operate this way.

The fast memory is a small amount (128k) of processor memory that has been set aside for use by hardware Interface Descriptor Blocks (IDBs). Should the router run out of fast memory, it will take memory from the regular processor memory pool.
