Resolution

A Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC) is a circuit that a network operator manually provisions over an Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) switched network between a specific source and a specific destination.

Multipoint bridging (MPB) enables point-to-multipoint bridging for ATM PVCs and Frame Relay data-link connection identifiers (DLCIs). This feature allows the use of multiple VCs or DLCIs for each VLAN for bridging on the Enhanced FlexWAN module.

Bridged PVCs have the 802.1 header (0xAA-AA-03) and several other fields that include a metropolitan-area network destination address.

In order to support the multiple VC feature, the switch must run Cisco IOS  12.2(18)SXE or later, which can be downloaded from the Cisco Downloads.

Note: It is also necessary to enable Bridge Protocol Data Unit (BPDU) translation with the bridge-domain [vlan id] access command.
