Resolution
To monitor the Cisco Catalyst Express 500, use the Cisco Network Assistant (CNA).
Perform these steps from the CNA dashboard:
- Click on Smartport.
- Click on any interface to which the PC capturing the sniffer traces is to be connected.
- Click on Modify (a small pop-up box shows up).
- Click on Role.
- Select the Diagnostics Role, then choose the source port and select the VLAN to monitor.
- Click on OK and then Apply.
CNA is a free software program that can be downloaded from Cisco.com and run on the PC. Network Assistant offers advanced options to configure and monitor multiple devices. To download the CNA application, refer to Cisco Network Assistant.
