Mozilla [1] is an open source project that produces various Internet applications. The source code used for this project came from the original Netscape source code. Today, Mozilla provides the following popular software for free:
- Firefox (web browser)
- Thunderbird (Email client)
- SeaMonkey (integrated web browser, Email client, HTML editor and chat client)
Mozilla also provides other software, often as add-ons or different integrations of the other products. Predominantly, however, Mozilla is known for the web browser. Since the web browser runs on a variety of platforms, is free, and is open source, it is the de facto standard for Unix and Linux systems. The features offered by these products also make them popular for Windows and Mac systems, especially in heterogeneous computing environments.
