Parity error occurred once

You may have a soft or hard parity error:

  • Soft parity errors occur when an energy level within the chip changes, such as a one or a zero. When referenced by the CPU, the energy level within the chip causes the system to crash if the error is in an unrecoverable area. There is no need to swap the board or any of the components.
  • Hard parity errors occur when a chip or board failure causes the data to be corrupted, which is not always bad. Reseat or replace the effected component, which is usually a memory chip swap or a board swap.

Soft parity errors are 10 to 100 times more frequent than hard parity errors. To greatly reduce the impact on your network, wait for a second parity error before replacing anything.
