The "%SYS-0-MOD_NOSLCPRESPONSE: Module [dec] SLCP not responding...resetting module" error message is received in Catalyst 6500 Series Switches running CatOS software

Core issue

This message indicates that the Supervisor Line-Card Processor (SLCP) failed to respond to requests from the Supervisor Engine's Network Management Processor (NMP). The [dec] portion of the error message is the module number. This problem is identified in Cisco bug ID CSCea38268.

As per the bug release notes, a Catalyst 6500 Series Switch with a Supervisor 1/1A or 2 may reload with this log message:

ProcessStatusPing:Module 1 local SCP error detected... resetting module

Resolution

No action is required unless the module fails again.
