I just purchased a USB to Mini-USB console cable to use with the 2960s switches we just bought.  I download the current(?) driver Ver. 3.1 loaded it on my Win 7 64-bit laptop.  It installs ok but when I try to use it with Putty, Putty comes back saying it can't access the port.  I noticed the driver says it's for Win XP and Win Vista.  Is there a newer driver for Win 7?  Any other ideas?

For some reason the USB driver is about impossible to find. Search: Catalyst 3850-48P-L Switch The driver is called Cisco_usbconsole_driver_3_1.zip Or the below URL if it is not stripped. https://software.cisco.com/download/home/284455380/type/282855122/release/3.1

To download the driver you will need a CISCO account login... update your account with your address... accept user agreement... apologies to coworkers for numerous expletives lodged during ridicules endeavor.

Good luck out there.

Following up on this thread because I couldn't get the v3.1 USB console driver stuff from cisco.com to work on my Win 7 jump host - and the following did:

https://www.silabs.com/products/development-tools/software/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers

Specifically I downloaded the https://www.silabs.com/documents/public/software/CP210x_Windows_Drivers.zip (v6.7.6) and it worked a charm, to get my mini USB console working with an IR829 router.

So I'm posting here for others' benefit (and for mine, should I forget where I got the driver later on ...)

Cheers,

Aaron
