Q: In that switch, are there only 8 ports with PoE?

A: Yes it support POE+ on first 8 ports.

Q: Can you use ISSU for firmware upgrading, with the dual CPU's ?

A: ISSU is for 4500 family of switches. 2960X supports stacking.

Q: Does 2960 support Some kind of wake on LAN in case it is in hybernation mode?

A: The Switch will be in hibernation mode until the configured time interval, once the time interval is over, it reboots.

Q: ??Q: Is there a bug, that 2960X stacks are not fully discovered in Prime Infrastructure 3.0 and 3.1?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.

Q: Is there any switch 2960-X with PoE on all the 24 ports?

A: Yes WS-c2960x-24PD-L. Is the switch which supports POE on all 24 ports.

Q: Will it be also amber if the port is in err-desabled?

A: Yes, the port LED will be in amber if it in err-disabled.

Q: Doesn the 2960-XR support IPv6 routing (EIGRPv6,OSPFv3,RIPng)?

A: Yes 2960xr supports ipv6 routing.

Q: What is the dual-CPU used for? Switching is done by ASICS, isn't it?

A: Switching is done by ASIC, but CPU takes care of several process like polling of different components like downlink ports, stack module, uplink ports, etc Currently one core CPU is used.

Q: Is there a SW recommendation for 2960-S? If not, why not?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.

Q: Has WS-C2960X-48FPS-L switch POE on all his ports?

A: Yes WS-C2960x-48FPS-L supports POE i.e POE+ of 30watts on all 48 ports.

Q: Can the 2960X and XR be stacked together?

A: No, 2960x and 2960xr cannot be stacked together.

Q: When a master is lost, is the process of election the same?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.

Q: Can you replace a member of the stack with out power off the rest?

A: You can replace a member of the stack without power off the rest of the other switches.

Q: How many vlan are supported on the 2960X or XR platform?

A: 1024 vlans are supported.

Q: Please elaborate on IPv6 port security such as blocking rogue RA's, DHPCv6 service, ND abuse.

A: Related and more information can be found on "IPv6 FHS": http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/ios-nx-os-software/enterprise-ipv6-solution/whitepaper_c11-602135.html

Q: So you mean, with mac, that IP address also will be binded?

A: Yes, as part of auto security mac and ip address will be binded.

Q: Is there any restriction concerning automatic IOS update on a stack?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.

Q: Are there any plans to bring  the full support of POE+ in all ports at the same time on 2k catalyst switches?

A: Few of the models of 2k catalyst switches already has the full support of POE+ in all ports ex. WS-c2960x-48FPD-L.

Q: Only 15.4W could be allocated with 48 Ports and 740W.  Are there any plans to bring  the full support of POE+ in all ports at the same time on 2k catalyst switches?

A: Currently only 740 W is supported.

Q: Why is it adviced by Cisco not to use the switch with the uplink as stack master?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.

Q: Is Auto QoS configuration preferred to manual provisioning?

A: AutoQoS helps with ease of configuration.

Q: Can we stack S with XR?

A: No, We can't stack S with XR. But, S with X is possible.

Q: What are the compatible USB that can be plugged on the 2960x usb slot (some of my usb key does not work in production)?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.

Q: What is the current cisco recommneded ios for 2960X?

A: 15.2(2)E4 is recommended ios of 2960x.

Q: When you make stack with 2 switch 2960-X, what path will be prefer and how when 2 users are connected on both switches?

A: Show platform dtm drop-port will give information about which path each users will take.

Q: Does 2960 series support ip services?

A: 2960 families supports only lanbase and lanlite license levels. With XR, IP Lite - new license level is introduced.

Q: Is there flexstack power cable capabilty on 2960-XR (as ws-c3850 series)?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.

Q: Can a 2960X with LANBase do dynamic routing?

A: 2960X with Lanbase supports only static routing, 2960XR supports dynamic routing.

Q: Can it be possible to share us its price dollar for 48 port switch?

A: You might have to get in touch with our marketing/accounts team for info on this.

Q: Suppose if we change the mac address of the device using the MAC spoofing changer, how the switch will take once it learned the legitimate mac address?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.

Q: Is hibernation mode configurable or on by default?

A: Hibernation mode is configurable, not available on default.

Q: Does the switch have netflow lite built in feature?

A: Netflow lite is a feature configurable in 2960x.

Q: What routing protocols are supported?

A: RIP, OSPF, EIGRP are supported.

Q: When I have several hundred 2960X switches with 15.0(2)EX3 to EX5 (with the bug that it sometimes won't detect SFPs or FlexStack Plus modules), is the recommendation to power-cycle the switches for the upgrade to a fixed version like 15.0(2a)EX5 or 15.22E4)?

A: Yes, we need to power cycle the switch after upgrade to 15.2(2)E4 if the sfp is not detected.

Q: Is there a SW recommendation for 2960-S? If not, why not?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.

Q: Can we stack a 2960X Lan Base and a 2960XR IP Lite?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.

Q:You said the FlexStack module wasn't interchangeable with the S and X, but can stack the S and X. Is that correct?

A: You can stack the S and the X, flex stack module should be used on the 2960s. The cables you use to connect both of them are similar, the bandage will be by direction in this case.

Q: Hi, is the netflow lite is built in the switch?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.

Q: What is the basis on which Broadcast itraffic via one link is sent over the other to avoid loop, any specific condition or rule?

A: No, it is similar to other switches when is related to the downlink ports. However if it is related to the broadcast package, one of the links of the stack has to be declared as a passive link so they don´t get looped in the network. (Keep in mind that the stack is connected as a ring).

Q: I understand this switches can do L3 routing, does it support NAT/PAT?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.

Q: Do we support IPv6 on 2960XR?

A: Yes, we do support it on 2960XR.

Q: Has WS-C2960X-48FPS-L switch POE on all his ports?

A: It does have POE capability on all the ports.

Q: Can we stack a 2960X Lan Base and a 2960XR IP Lite?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.

Q: Can we configure the license level on 2960X?

A:You cannot configure the license level. On the SKU license, “LL” indicates lad lite and “L” indicates land base.

Q: Is the 2960X stackable with a 2960S?

A: Yes it is stackable with the 2960S, but you can have only 4 members in the stack due to license mismatch. On the 2960X stack you can have 8 members.

Q: If I have stacked of four switches and switch one is configured with priority 15 (Master switch), which switch should be configured as back up master (priority 10) as a best practice?

A: This question is responded in the Ask the Expert Event.
