What influences the differents between IGP and BGP metrics to same destination

When I display info to a specific route using the 'show ip bgp 10.10.10.6' command i see two metrics, one from IGP and the other from BGP.

I see that they do not match each other and are always either +/- 1 or 2. Can any one help define what influences the differences
