Core issue
This message occurs when an SNMP Manager polls for the TCAM data of a line card which does not have any TCAM information. This occurs only for a line card in a Catalyst 6500 switch that runs Cisco IOS Software. If the line card has TCAM information during the SNMP poll, the data is given to the network management system (NMS) for further processing. This error is documented in Cisco bug ID CSCec39383.
If this table is not polled, there are no tracebacks. There is no effect on user traffic.
Resolution
To avoid receiving the tracebacks, you can define a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) view on the router so that cseTcamUsageTable is not polled.
As a workaround, you can block the query of TCAM data by the NMS. The MIB object that provides TCAM usage data is cseTcamUsageTable. Complete these steps on the router in order to avoid tracebacks:
- Issue the snmp-server view tcamBlock cseTcamUsageTable excluded command.
- Issue the snmp-server view tcamBlock iso included command.
- Issue the snmp-server community public view tcamBlock ro command.
- Issue the snmp-server community private view tcamBlock rw command.
