HI

We have a traditionnel network (Core, Dist, Acces SW). We purshased DNAC center recently.

My Question is, since we have a traditionnal network. How can we slowly get our devices managed from DNA and benefit from the Feature of DNA, like Zero touch provisionning.

Sorry we are kind of new with this technology.

We have many devices that when discovered via DNAc are showing unsupported. Does it mean we have to replace those devices with higher models to me able to be properly managed via DNAc or symply needs an OS upgrade?

Thank you ,

Hi Hani,

This is tough to answer without knowing lots more about your specific network. It is unlikely that the devices are not supported; you may need DNA Software licenses for those devices, but you need to go back 8 years to find devices that are not supported by Cisco DNA Center:

https://content.cisco.com/compatibilitymatrix.html

The good news is DNA Software licenses for older devices are much, much less expensive than the license on a new device.

However, there are many variables so we need to get you some support. To do that, can you answer these questions: Do you have a partner that you're working with? Or, do you have a Cisco account manager or system engineer you've worked with before? Have you had any contact with Cisco CX assistance.

Thanks,

Greg

Hi Greg,

Thank your reply. Actually we got this DNA center by our cisco representative free since we buy a lot of cisco equipment's. So our environnement is not ready for using full feature of DNA in a fabric environment. We have WIfi that is Aruba not cisco, we don t have ISE, so far we installed and configured DNA center and start discovering our network. What is our goal for now is to be able to upgrade our devices via DNA. We did some test on unsupported devices and could successfully upgrade them to the latest recommended version from cisco. I think what we will have to do is a Brown deployment as we have many devices that are 8 years old.

So without ISE implemented we can 't do much automation. I will contact our cisco representative to draw a plan on how we can move from the current traditional environnement to a future SDA full automated fabric.

Thank you again for your support.
