Hi Brett,

Is there a way to determine if our 4331 routers are affected by clock signal component failure? Cisco says the new 4331 are not affected. I would like to know what date Cisco uses as a reference to determine after that date the routers are bug free. We have received our 4431 about 6 months ago and have not deployed them yet. Can I say all our 4431s are affected and need to be replaced?

Thanks,

MK

Hi MK,

The 4431 routers aren't impacted by this Field Notice, so none of yours would be impacted.

Hello

Is there any way to activate licenses in my RMA while my old router still in production? Just to be ready to swap them.

In other words, if I activate RMA,  will that kill the licenses in my old router? Or take is of production?

or do you have a temporary way to activate all licenses in RMA until I take the old router of production and permanently move the licenses?

Thanks

Not applicable

I have this same question. I have 14 of the 4331 routers to replace, and would like to see the official answer from Cisco. Was there ever a response to your inquiry?

Hi,

We replaced ISR 4431 by 4451. We got credit for the amount we had paid for 4431 and paid the difference.

Thanks,

MK

I contacted Cisco through my vendor, and they provided me with all the licenses keys and every time you activate one router it will take one of your old routers (Cisco just transfer the licenses. But, you have to keep in your mind while you doing this:

  • The old router in production will remain with it license until you restart it, so don’t restart it until you have the replacement ready to swap.
  • You can request temporary licenses for the old one in case the power outage that causes restart you old router before your replacement been ready to swap.
  • Check the features licensed file and compare them with what you have on the old router and make sure you have them all. Sometimes these files not cover all the features you had.

If you need any help please feel free to contact me.

Thanks

I have a list of CISCO ISR4321 ROUTER and one CISCO ISR4331-X ROUTER.

Kindly advise if these are affected or not. These are all live in network right now.

had to replace an isr4321/k9

I had purchased the appxk9 license for it afterwards. There was no pak or license to install.

I just had to do :

license boot level appxk9    (accept the license agreement when prompted)

end

license right-to-use move appxk9

wri me

reload

so when I did the RMA, the process for porting the license for the unit covers the seck9 that was included with the original unit, but not the appx9 feature upgrade.

had to do :

config t

license boot level appxk9    (accept the license agreement when prompted)

end

license right-to-use move appxk9

wri me

reload

from show ver after this :

Technology Package License Information:

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Technology    Technology-package           Technology-package
              Current       Type           Next reboot
------------------------------------------------------------------
appxk9           appxk9           RightToUse       appxk9
uck9             None             None             None
securityk9       securityk9       Permanent        securityk9
ipbase           ipbasek9         Permanent        ipbasek9

Hope this helps anyone who needs to add on appxk9 that they paid for.

also , I found ssh was not enabled after this video procedure.  I had to do "crypto key generate rsa" if I wanted to ssh into the router.

Why we need to move the old ISR memory to the new one , Do the new ISR shipped RMA replacement without memory ?

Here is the link where you can check if your device is affected in clock issue by serial number:

ISR4321, ISR4331, and ISR4351 Serial Number Validation:

http://serialnumbervalidation.com/64253/cgi-bin/index.cgi

Tip: check the serial number of replacement device also before asking for time window. :)
