Virtual Offices For Small Biz

Our management staff wants to go to a virtual office. How many types of virtual offices models are they and is there a rule of thumb to design an effective virtual office? I want to make sure that before we make a decision, that we have looked at the most common business models.

a good point of view case study of a company moving to a virtual office is linked below. it goes into great detail about the business model, how/where VO fits..etc.

please see the link below:

also, for a familiar touch, you might want to look at the microsoft offering, Office Groove. it looks pretty nice and seems to have all the bells and whistles.

please see the link below for the latest ms office groove highlights:

also, here is a 'network world' article on ms office groove: (very informative)

Hi Beth,

Some other options to look at are web based virtual offices such as Webex Webofice (www.weboffice.com).

This solution provides a sweet of tools that makes it easy to share contacts, documents, calendars and tasks among your group. They have some great white papers and case studies on their site that will help you understand different ways it can be used.

This like the MS Groove solution is something that can be setup easily and doesn't require an IT Staff to implement.

We recently talked in depth about the different types of virtual offices on our internet radio show "The Anywhere Office". You can listen to this episode at http://www.theanywhereoffice.com/blog/virtual-team/work-unchained-with-a-virtual-office.htm

The important thing when choosing a virtual office solution is to make sure it addresses your organization or teams needs for information, communication, and collaboration.

All the best,

Phil
