NSO running on a VMware ESX virtual machine

Our customer XXXXX is just starting with NSO, they will get small licenses for the lab, dev and test environments and a xlarge for production.  We expect production will be a physical machine but they want the other environments to work on VMware ESX virtual machines, has anyone got any guidelines or specs around this?

Thanks

This is hard to answer in general terms. The amount of memory you need depends on a) the number of devices, b) how large configs you have on those devices, c) the exact NEDs and services in use.

Doing some measurements during the PoC for your specific use case, and then extrapolating from that is usually the best way to get an indication. Another approach is to make sure you buy a machine that can hold a lot of RAM, so that you can grow as needed, based on current and future use cases. RAM is inexpensive.

I understand, and I would have given it to you if there was one. We used to have a document like this, but it was removed because it caused more trouble than good.

For now we have to apply brain and experience from case to case.
